Hi everyone!
I'm a professionally trained Book and Paper Conservator and I previously worked in Universities and Libraries.
I graduated from a 5-year MA degree in Painting Conservation in Belgium, before completing a 2-year MA degree in Conservation of Books and Library Materials in the UK in 2015.
I first worked at the Chester Beatty Library in Dublin; then at the John Rylands Library in Manchester (UK); and finally at the Cambridge University Library (UK).
I'm now back in Belgium, and I have been more and more drawn back to my first love and passion, miniature and illumination painting, as well as pigments in illuminated manuscripts.
My love for painting never left me, I've been painting since my childhood. I would like to learn miniature painting, using traditional techniques and materials; at the moment, I have been researching and practicing on my own. This forum is a wonderful opportunity for me to share and learn from experienced professionals!
Welcome Cecilia! Miniature painting goes hand in hand with the other book arts; indeed they are in many ways inseparable. My mother is a librarian and I have grown up with a love of and respect for books all my life. The Chester Beatty has some treasures. You are among friends here!
Thanks for your lovely introduction. Please do post your works or anything you are working on at the moment in the Track Your Progress section. We look forward to seeing your work!
