Hello everybody! I'm Hannah Charlton, in Spokane, Washington, USA. I make Gothic style miniatures on vegan parchment, using gouache, pens, and gold ink. I studied art and art history at Whitworth University but am mostly self-taught in miniature painting.
I'm so happy to learn that there is a community of miniaturists like this! I'm excited to learn about everybody's work and to learn best practices for keeping one's eyes, hands, and lower back healthy.
This is a piece from my series based on The Book of the City of Ladies by Christine de Pizan: the witches Manto, Medea, and Circe.
oh, these are lovely!!
Hello and welcome Hannah! And yes I was going to introduce you to @Mary Yaeger who has worked with Christine de Pizan too - brilliant that you have met virtually! She's an amazing medieval inspirational lady. Thanks for sharing your medieval inspired work! We are all working with a similar fascinating time period. What is/where do you get vegan parchment? It's an intriguing idea!
Hi Hannah, I'm so glad you are joining the forum! I too have found inspiration in the Book of the City of Ladies. At the time I discovered her I knew little about miniature painting. But now I am learning so much!
Such gorgeous work! Thank you very much for sharing -- so inspiring! And such a pleasure to meet you!!!!
