Grievous to see the big crack through the middle. Such a magnificent work, must be a challenge for the conservators.
The Eurasian red squirrel Sciurus vulgaris orientis used to be common in Central Asia in centuries past, so maybe the artists were very familiar with them. I’ve always thought the fellow climbing the tree was an artist wanting a new brush.
