Hello everyone!
I am dreaming up a birthday gift for my dear husband - a rendering of his favourite emperor Jahangir. I'd like to reproduce this painting: https://www.sothebys.com/en/auctions/ecatalogue/2009/arts-of-the-islamic-world-l09723/lot.43.html
Do you have any favourite books or websites that you recommend for inspiration on mughal painting?
Yes - I was just discussing it today with Susan Dobrian - the Padshahnama. Here's some info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Padshahnama - it has some great paintings and there is also a great book of the same name based on the historical manuscript - The King of the World: The Padshahnama : An Imperial Mughal Manuscript from the Royal Library, Windsor Castle Hardcover – 1 April 1997 by Milo Cleveland Beach, Ebba Koch & more. If you're going to do a painting of a Mughal emperor then there are lots of good portraitures inspirational images in this book.
