I have been watching the BBC's Art of Persia documentary series and thought I'd share that it includes footage of miniature paintings, miniature painters at work in modern day in their studios (including one that paints using a single cat hair!), an exclusive look inside a Timurid Shahnameh that is six centuries old, as well as information about subjects commonly referred to in miniatures and the dynasties that celebrated this art form.
Here are some photographs I have taken so you can get an idea of what the documentary series is like, and for those who don't have access to it.

Thank you for sharing! Apparently I started this series previously, and then got busy.
I am delighted to continue. ❤️
Thank you so much Roxana for sharing especially for those who can't get iplayer! Love the close ups. It's a great series, I've heard lots of good things about it (still haven't watched - no time!) (my ass is duct-taped to my studio chair!)
The magic ingredient; Time & more time!!! Or, as a famous poet said “Duct-tape your ass to the chair” Thank you Roxanna … inspiring ❤️
